Latanoprost is a prostaglandin. It is a derivative of prostaglandin F2α and is a selective F2α receptor agonist. It is an inactive substance but can quickly penetrate into the cornea then be hydrolyzed into active free acids in the cornea and plasma. Latanoprost can increase the outflow of aqueous humor through the canthus layer. With just a small amount of medicine, it can promote a large amount of aqueous humor filling. The liquid medicine can penetrate into the upper layer of the eyeball, ciliary choroid, and has a good effect of reducing intraocular pressure.
