Pharmacological Action
Cloprostenol Sodium is a prostaglandin (PGF2α) analogue. It exhibits potent luteolytic activity, rapidly inducing luteal regression and inhibiting luteal secretion. Additionally, it directly stimulates uterine smooth muscle, causing contraction and cervical relaxation.
▸ In animals with normal estrus cycles, estrus typically occurs within 2–5 days post-treatment
▸ In pregnant cows between 10 and 150 days of gestation, abortion is usually induced within 2–3 days following administration
Indications and Usage
Cloprostenol, a prostaglandin, exhibits potent luteolytic activity and directly stimulates uterine smooth muscle contraction. It is primarily used for:
▸ Estrus synchronization in cows
▸ Induction of parturition in pregnant sows
Dosage and Administration
Route: Intramuscular injection
▸ Cattle: 2–3 mL per dose
▸ Sows (112–113 days of gestation): 0.5–1 mL per dose
Adverse Reactions
When used in late gestation, this product may increase the risk of dystocia and may exhibit reduced efficacy.
Precautions
▸ Contraindicated in pregnant animals unless intended for abortion or induction of parturition.
▸ Do not administer prematurely for induction of parturition.
▸ This product may induce abortion or acute bronchospasm. Use with caution, particularly by pregnant women or individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions.
▸ In case of accidental inhalation or injection causing respiratory distress, administer a rapid-acting bronchodilator.
▸ This product is readily absorbed through the skin. Wear rubber or disposable protective gloves during handling. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after use and before eating or drinking. In case of skin contact or spillage, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
▸ Do not use concurrently with antipyretic, analgesic, or anti-inflammatory drugs.
▸ Dispose of empty vials by deep burial or incineration. Waste must be disposed of in approved waste management facilities. Do not dispose of undiluted product on-site. Prevent contamination of drinking water, feed, or food with this product.
