Description
This product is a clear, colorless to light yellow, oily liquid.
Pharmacological Action
On the basis of estrogen action, progesterone promotes the development of the endometrium and uterine glands, inhibits uterine muscle contraction, and reduces the response of uterine muscle to oxytocin, thereby exerting a pregnancy-maintaining effect.
Through a feedback mechanism, it inhibits the secretion of luteinizing hormone from the anterior pituitary, suppressing estrus and ovulation.
In addition, in conjunction with estrogen, it stimulates the development of the mammary alveoli in preparation for lactation.
Indications and Usage
Sex hormone. Used for the prevention of abortion.
Dosage and Administration
Intramuscular Injection
▸ Horses and cattle: 5–10 ml per dose
▸ Sheep and pigs: 1.5–2.5 ml per dose
▸ Dogs: 0.2–0.5 ml per dose
Adverse Reactions
No adverse reactions have been observed at the recommended dosage.
Precautions
1. Do not use in lactating animals whose milk is intended for human consumption.
2. Prolonged use may extend the gestation period.
Withdrawal Period
Not required.
