Pharmacological Action

Luteinizing Hormone Releasing Hormone A₂ belongs to the polypeptide hormone class. It can induce the anterior pituitary gland of animals to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), exerting the effects of both luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone.

Dosage and Administration

Dilute with sterile water for injection or normal saline before use. Prepare immediately before use.

When inducing spawning in fish, the dosage for male fish is half that for female fish.

Intraperitoneal Injection: Single dose - 5 μg per kg body weight for grass carp. For silver carp and bighead carp, administer 1 μg for the first injection, with the remainder injected 12 hours later. For a three-dose regimen, administer 1–2.5 μg per fish approximately 15 days in advance as the first injection, 2.5 μg per kg body weight as the second injection, and 5 μg per kg body weight combined with 1–2 μg of fish pituitary gland 20 hours later as the third injection.

Intramuscular Injection: For delayed ovulation in dairy cows, administer 12.5–25 μg intramuscularly simultaneously with insemination. For ovarian inactivity in dairy cows, administer 25 μg once daily for 1–3 consecutive days, with a total dose not exceeding 75 μg. not exceeding 100 μg. For early pregnancy diagnosis in dairy cows, administer 12.5–25 μg once 5–8 days after mating; pregnancy is confirmed if no repeat estrus occurs within 35 days. Pigs: 25 μg. Sheep: 10 μg.

Actions and Indications

Hormonal drug. Used to treat delayed ovulation, ovarian inactivity, persistent corpus luteum, and ovarian cysts in dairy cows, and for early pregnancy diagnosis. Also used to induce ovulation in fish.

Adverse Reactions

Excessive dosage may lead to spawning failure, reduced maturation rate of brood fish, and blindness in the induced fish.
